Sapphire is a birthstone for the people who were born in September.  Like the diamond that is forever, sapphire ring symbolizes love, loyalty and eternal friendship. Sapphires are quite hard, measuring 9 on the Mohs scale, with the diamond being the only gem that is harder.

Sapphire rings can be set in gold, silver and platinum in 14 or 18 carat. They are often combined with diamonds, opal and aquamarine. However it also comes as a single studded gemstone.  Sapphires are offered in round, or oval shapes; rectangular and square cuts are also available

Sapphire rings are fascinating that they are available in several alluring colors like orange, pink, purple and yellow.  Heating sapphires may add to their value by enhancing color and clarity.  Pink sapphires range in color from a pale, almost nude, pink to a bright hot pink. Yellow sapphires come in shades of pale lemon to very rich golden hues. A yellow sapphire looks absolutely very pretty when it set on white gold, platinum, or silver.  It is one of my favorite  among the other colors of sapphires.
