Pave Diamond Settings

Pave diamond setting use a lot of small diamonds.  The diamonds are placed closely each others.  This gives the appearance of continuous diamonds over the surface of the rings metal

Prong Diamond Setting

Prong setting is also known as claw setting.  In prong setting, diamonds are held by several prongs.  Prong setting allow more light enter the diamond. This design also make the diamond appear from the side of the stone, make the diamond look larger and more brilliant. The number of prongs use for the setting is depending on the number and shape of the diamond placed to the ring metals.  Usually, large diamond uses 6 prongs. However 4 prongs would allow maximum light to hit the stone.

Bezel Diamond Setting

In bezel setting, a rim totally surround diamond.  This setting make small diamond looks larger if it uses similar metal color such as white gold and platinum.  The edge can be modified into a certain style to accommodate the stone.

Those above are only the common setting.  The setting designs not only apply to diamond but also to others gemstones such as moissanite, cubic zirconia, emerald, ruby, saphire, etc.
