What style of the ring do you like? One of my favourite designs is antique style.  Antique look can be achieved by two main factors, such as engraved metal design and the cut of the stones. These 2 factors will affect the whole look of the ring.  For an antique look you can have cushion cut rings which resemble to a pillow shape.  This cut is also called “old mine cut”, and some refer to the candle light cut as the stone because it was said to be most brilliant in candlelight.  A cushion cut diamond ring has about 60 facets which less than the modern rings.

Cushion cut rings - The new trend in modern society

Cushion cut rings stones comes in varieties of proportions.  They could be found in oval, square or rectangular with rounded corners. These cushion cut rings were very popular in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.  During this modern society, cushion cut rings have increased the popularity again since some years ago. The demands tend to increase as the designers and antique jewellers continuing in using the cut.  Some jewellers modify the cushion cut to be somewhat modern look. In this decade setting, cushion cut stone rings are more symmetrical than its older contemporaries, mainly due to the increasing of the jeweller’s skill.  Cushion cut rings stone look best in solitaire. Many women also prefer to have small accents stones around the main gemstone or diamond.  Cushion cut engagement rings are still rare.
